I did a similar thing when I bought my 99ST in 2000.

Shortly after I bought it, I got a puncture and visited my local bike shop for a repair, only to find they didnt have a 46mm socket! Fortunately one of the mechanics convinced the workshop manager that was as good a time as any to get one.

No, I couldnt believe it either...

I had to hunt around but eventually found a good tool supplier.

I ended up with a 36mm & 46mm socket.
3/4" to 1/2" adapter.
Extension bar
Torx set with 1/2" drive.

All up this cost me about $400 at the time, but its all paid for itself many times over.
The proper tools are worth their weight in gold.
