Years ago the closest camp site to Monaco was at Roquebrune-cap-martin just out towards Italy. Being so close, it was a bit of a rip-off price wise. Don't know if it's still there as I haven't been camping down that way for ages.
As for Monaco itself, it's an experience. I wouldn't bother to rush back.
Oh, watch for the dog sh1t all over the place. The rich tarts empty their dogs anywhere and everywhere.
