Another Muffler question

I'm getting tired of waiting for a used set of stock or TOR peashooters to become available for my TBird, but I really want to maintain the look. I found a set of (current) Bonneville Peashooters, and they look ...close. It appears that the inlet is bent, while the TBird inlet is straight.

I wonder if the Bonneville inlet were to be cut off, would there would be enough "straight" section to slip on a TBird header pipe?

Or could a really good MIG welder weld on a collar without buggering up the chrome? Any thoughts?
