Thanks for your replies.., and the warm welcome :-)

I've tried plugging a rechargeable lantern in that works fine in the car but not in the plug on the bike. I've tried it both wwith the engine running and turned off and the charging light never comes on.

Gonna get the fairing off at the weekend and check out the wiring...i'm no electrical wiz though so might just have to get an adaptor for the standard BMW one the bike comes with.

Bye the way i can't see any marks on the bars where sat nav might have been but it's fitted with a touring scottoiler so i'm assuming someones been around a fair bit on it although it's only done 9500 miles.
