My fall
Pulled up to my garage door, door opener batteries were dead. Hotter 'n' hell, put down kickstand and rested bike on it. Stood beside bike while removing my riding gear. Everything seemed OK, so I went inside to open the garage door. When the door opened, there it was, my pride and joy laying on it's side. The asphalt had given way because of the heat and the kickstand sunk into it until it fell. Does that qualify me for the dumba** club? Carried a 4 inch square piece of metal to put under my stand after that.
As to clutch and shift levers, I once had a Bultaco Matador and rode it in the dirt almost exclusively. Went down quite a few times bending almost every lever on the bike. They were made of a metal that could be bent without breaking. I kept a hammer and prybar handy and bent them back into usable shape numerous times without breakage. I believe they were Magura controls.
Why doesn't someone make a control made of similar material available today? I'd put out a few extra $$$$$$ for something like that.
