definetly do not mount the bags on the plates unless you change out the plastic hardware for metal, I bought the plate kit for the mounting brackets, i attached the plates for a little while on of them almost fell off and the other completely fell off while i was riding, i didnt care though because all i wanted was the metal brackets.
