I tried the legalspeeding H.A.R.D visual alert system. The receiver was too large to fit comfortably in my helmet so I velcroed it on the outside. The biggest issue was the use of a battery in the receiver. It takes a $3 2032 battery. If you forget to turn the receiver off it will kill the battery overnight.

The transmitter, which is powered by your bike battery, also had to be turned off after every ride by pulling its power cord or it would remain on with a bright led glowing.

To replace the battery in the receiver you have to remove the receiver from the helmet, pry it open and REMOVE THE EXPOSED CIRCUIT BOARD! The battery is mounted on the back side of the circuit board.

The wand with the LED on the end is soldered to the circuit board with little to no strain relief so it was only a matter of time before that connection was broken. It lasted about one year and was an inconvenience to use every day.
