interesting... the motor's black alright. I've had the carbs apart and it's been fitted with a dynojet kit and runs pretty well with it - I didn't take the mains out, but Dynojet have their own markings different to Mikuni, etc anyway I think. When I bought the machine from the salvage yard it was advertised & sold as a Trident (he he he) and I checked the frame number with Triumph to have it confirmed as a speed triple. I think I'll check the motor's numbers and call Hinckley again and see what's what. I think you're right about the Super 3 - the bike feels 90 - 95tops HP and doesn't spin up too fast. I assume their was lighter pistons, crank or rods in the Super 3?
