It will shoot oil out of the breather if overfilled. For example, I have been running extra oil in my bike because of wheelies/stoppies, and everytime I stop there seems to be a alittle oil coming out of the hose, it is a pain, but is also worth it....(but I am running a quart high)
If you do have oil coming out of the overflow hose, and you are not high on oil, I would check the seal, mine has gone bad before and if it does, it will leak a large amount of oil...
