It shouldn't take much effort to gather a buddy or two to come see your new ride. While doing so give one the privilege of holding the rear fender as you remove and replace one shock. Then allow the other to hold the handlebars and repeat the process.
If you are installing solo, a floor jack with wide support to lift from center and a confidence strap to stabilize the front wheel. If you adding the same length shock, and replace one at a time - a direct replacement. I went an inch longer so I pulled up when installing the first shock. Easy install - and will make a big difference.
