I'm with you Ron. It's great to be able to get away, whenever & wherever the mood (& the funds) allow. But I can't be on the road for more than a few days (these days) before I start thinking about the home-comforts.
That's because I've done a lot of long distance trips, on both 2 & 4 wheels, for most of my life. & it doesn't hold the same appeal that it once did (especially 2 wheel touring).
I wouldn't mind circumnavigating Oz again (going round the block), but I'd take an SUV & tow my bikes. I know it sounds like heresy, but there's so much of Australia that's best disptached with cruise-control & aircon. & I could unload my bikes to ride the interesting bits.
I might do it one day, but it's fun to daydream & plan it out, even if I never do it. So I hope you enjoy planning your escape, & if it's really what you want, I hope you're able to make it happen.
