Disconnect the battery and the igniter module.

With the battery out, all electrical circuits are open so you can't do damage from stray current.

Disconnecting the igniter module will prevent either stray current or electromagnetic pulses from frying $600 worth of electronics.

I did some welding with a little Lincoln wirefeed on my frame to replace the stop on the headstock. After reconnecting the igniter and battery there were not electrical problems.
