Most people do not know that we've had a space station in orbit since 1998. There have been 16 expedition crews (44 folks) that have lived aboard the station for an average of 6 months each. The station is the width of a football field and has habitable volume equivalent of a 2 story house. The next Shuttle flight is May 25th and will bring the largest of the 4 laboratory modules.
